Bowling alleys may have dangerous machines

The Swedish Work Environment Authority has almost finished checking all bowling machines in the country. Some machine may pose a serious threat of injury, Swedish Radio P4 reports.

Since March last year inspectors have been checking bowling alleys in Sweden to make sure that all the security provisions are in place.

“I think we have managed to check almost all of them,” said Damir Krusvar, one inspector in Skåne in southern Sweden. Skåne alone has over 40 bowling alleys but so far none have been closed down.

The decision to tighten security in the bowling alleys came after a few fatal accidents in Europe but also a few minor incidents in Sweden.
