Sports Update:

World number one Annika Sörenstam matched the LPGA Tour record for consecutive victories in a single tournament after winning the Mizuno Classic in Japan.

The Swede matched Briton Laura Davies’s record from 1994 through 1997 when she shot a seven under par 7 in the final round Sunday.

It was her 55th career win and it  locked up Sörenstam’s seventh player of the year title.

At the Paris masters, the Swedish men didn’t get as far as they’d have liked in the singles, with Robyn Söderling being knocked out in a hard fought quarter final match. But veteran Jonas Björkman did come through in the doubles—he took the title with Australian Todd Woodbridge after defeating Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe 6-3, 6-4.
