Sweden and US Help Bosnia

The governments of Sweden and the United States have launched a US$20 million program to help improve Bosnia’s local governance.

The Governance Accountability Project aims to strengthen some 40 municipalities in three years through workshops in accountability, efficiency and budgeting. The workshops will also advise on seeking funding to finance local infrastructure.

The program is run by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). In a statement the two groups said that these measures should help Bosnia move closer to European integration.
