Swedish Grant to Kenya

Sweden has granted Kenya nearly US$ 102 million to strengthen democratic governance and fight AIDS.

According the Finance Ministry, the grant will cover projects aimed at promoting good governance, fighting AIDS and its socio-economic impact in the country between 2004 and 2006     

AIDS has killed some 1.5 million people since 1984 in Kenya and about seven percent of Kenya’s 32 million inhabitants are estimated to be infected with the HIV virus.
