Sweden fell once again to arch-rivals Finland in the Karjala Tournament Sunday—for the seventh straight year. 

The Finns went on to win the gold after defeating Sweden 5-2, who ended up with the bronze. 

In other hockey news:  Stanley Cup champion Dan Boyle of Tampa Bay and Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars have signed with struggling Swedish Elite League club Djurgården.  The Stockkholm-based team, which has signed four other NHL players during the ongoing lockout, is only eighth in the 12-team standings.  Whether this new influx of top talent will turn the tide for the team remains to be seen.

And in soccer news:  a 15-year-old Swede has signed a professional 5-year contract with Inter to play for the Italian clubs junior team.  Göran Slavkovski, who has scored more than 200 goals for Swedish champion Mamö’s junior team, will move to Milan next summer.  Inter paid 100 thousand U.S. dollars for the young man being billed as the next Zlatan Ibrohimovic, who says:  this is a dream come true.
