Royal Court Has Not Yet Sued Publishers

The Royal Swedish Court denies reports in media around Eurpope that they are suing two German publishers for some US $6 million.

Ann-Christine Jernberg, head of press and information at the Royal Court, told Radio Sweden that the Royal Court has ”not yet sued” the publishers, but that a German lawyer is looking into the legal possibilities.

For years now, magazines owned by the publishing houses, have published lies about the Swedish royal family. Last year, the Swedish royal family won a legal battle over reports claiming that Crown Princess Victoria wanted to marry a Greek prince. Two German magazines had to publish apologies.

The Royal Courts lawyer in Germany is looking into the possibility of ”damages and compensation” for the pain caused to members of the royal family by the made up articles appearing in German gossip magazines.
