Sweden beats Czech Republic 4-1

Published söndag 6 maj 2012 kl 11.54

Sweden came one step closer to advancing into the play off stages of the ice hockey World Cup last night.

Johan Franzén scored the first goal two minutes into the first period. In the second period, Niklas Kronwall took the score to 2-0.

The Czechs scored in the third period only to see it followed by two goals from Sweden's Niklas Persson.

Sweden's 4-1 win over the Czech Republic on Saturday has Swedish sports commentators beaming over the team's performance in the group stages so far.

"I am thrilled," says Swedish Radio expert Magnus Arvedsson who also noted the reinforcement of several Swedish NHL players. "It's fun to see the pros come home with the right attitude to these matches."
