Fraud charged in Pirate Bay deal

The principle owner of a former prospective buyer for the file-sharing site the Pirate Bay is being prosecuted for crimes including swindling and accounting fraud.

When the news came that Global Gaming Factory X (GGF) wanted to buy the Pirate Bay, its stock price rose sharply, before the suggested deal turned to nothing last summer. According to public prosecutor Johan Lindmark, the 49 year old owner of GGF spread the story just to inflate the stock value.

Speaking to Computer Sweden, Lindmark says that made the 49 year old guilty of fraud, which carries a sentence of up to six years in prison.
