Double-decker bus in the ditch after driver faints

A bus carrying 72 passengers drove off the road and flipped over on Sunday after the driver had fainted. The accident occured on the E4 highway between Stockholm and Uppsala. No major injuries were reported, Swedish Radio News reports.

"The driver blacked out and fainted," Benny Eriksson at the bus travel company Ceris Resor told news agency TT.

The second driver acknowledged what was happening and grabbed the steering wheel, but the accident couldn't be avoided. By the time it drove off the road, the bus had slowed down considerably.

According to Benny Eriksson, the bus was practically at a stand-still by the time it flipped on its side, TT reports.
