Seven arrested in Tensta riots
Police arrested seven teenagers in the Stockholm suburb of Tensta Wednesday night. The teenagers had thrown stones at the police, vandalized and set fire to a school as well as to cars, reports news agency TT.
The disturbance began around 6:30 in the evening when a police patrol intervened and were met with stone-throwing. Then, at 10:30 in the evening, the police were alerted that someone or some people had set fire to the Bussenhus school.
Simon Jonasson with the police in that area says that the material damage to the school is comprehensive and that it is troubling to think that the school is supposed to open again after the holiday.
Some 30 youth were involved in the riots, which also included vandalizing parts of the bath house and the Tensta gym. Despite police from several districts coming to patrol Tensta Wednesday night, the teenagers managed to set fire to cars around half past midnight.
No one was hurt during the disturbances.
