Arla expands in Britain and Germany

The Swedish-Danish dairy cooperative Arla has announced it is planning mergers into Britain and Germany.

In a statement released Tuesday, Arla says that after clearance from regulators, final decision will be made on June 26th with Britain’s Milk Link and Germany’s MUH, which are also cooperatives.

The new dairy giant would retain the Arla name, and would expand from just over 8000 co-op owners now to more than 12,000, including some in Belgium and Luxembourg.
