New leader for Sweden's largest labor movement
The Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) begins its conference Friday to choose a new leader. Wanja Lundby Wedin is stepping down after 12 years as president of Sweden’s largest labor organization.
The selection committee has picked 47-year-old Karl-Petter Thorwalsson to take over. He’s been active in the Swedish Metal Workers Union IF Metall after a background in the Social Democrat party’s youth movement.
