Specific vaccine batches tied to sleeping disorder

Several batches of the swine flu vaccine could be tied to the 220 cases of narcolepsy in Sweden, according to a review by the Narcolepsy Association.

Primarily children and teenagers have developed the sleeping disorder after Sweden organised mass immunisation against swine flu a few years ago.

Now a review shows that many cases can be tied to a specific delivery of the vaccine, reports local newspaper Göteborgs-Posten.

"We cannot evaluate any difference between batches," Margareta Eriksson, chair of the narcolepsy Association, tells Swedish Radio.

"All we can do is go through the information, state our observation, and now we have asked the state's Medical Products Agency to have a look," she says.
