12 year sentences for plotting terror
A Danish court has found four men with Swedish connections guilty of planning a terrorist attack in Denmark, and has sentenced them to 12 years imprisonment each. That is equal to the most severe prison sentence previously given in Denmark.
They were charged with plotting to attack the offices of the newspaper Jyllands-Posten in retaliation for the 2005 publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.
All of the men live in Sweden and three are Swedish citizens.
When the police raided their apartment in Denmark in December 2010 they found weapons, ammunition, and an mp3 player with songs about Jihad. The evidence also includes wiretap recordings by the Swedish police.
