Water shortage on Öland

Local authorities on the island of Öland are asking local residents and holidaymakers to limit their use of water.

The large number of summer inhabitants in the area, over 100,000, is making it difficult for the Löttorp water works to cope with the demand, according to local Swedish Radio P4 Kalmar.

Water authorities say they may take water from another water works in the central part of the island to help meet demand.
