Boy dies in swimming accident

A 14 year old boy died in a drowning accident at a beach near Gothenburg Wednesday, there were no lifeguards present.

A rescue team found him under the water after about 15 minutes, and he was given CPR and taken by hospital to a local hospital, but his life could not be saved.

None of the 24 beaches in the Gothenburg area have lifeguards, news agency TT reports, with local officials saying it is mostly a political decision. And Gothenburg isn't alone, only five or six beaches in the whole of Sweden have lifeguards in place.
