Sweden cruises to victory over South Africa

1:32 min

The Swedish women's soccer team won a handy 4-1 victory over South Africa in their opening match at the Olympics in London on Wednesday evening.

After just 21 minutes, Sweden already had a 3-0 lead.

News agency TT reports that playing against the reining world champions, Japan, will doubtless pose a bigger challenge to the Swedish team on Saturday.

The women began the group section of the tournament Wednesday, even though the Games do not officially start until Friday.
