Swedish boxer says goodbye Olympics, but organic chemistry awaits

The boxing quarter finals ended in disappointment for the Swedish athlete Anna Laurell, who lost the 75-kilo weight class match against Claressa Shields of the US, 14-18, on Monday.

Afterwards, Laurell said that she felt "completely empty inside", according to news agency TT.

This was the first year that women's boxing was part of the Olympics, but next time around, in Rio, Laurell, who's 32 now, will be above the age limit for competition.

Laurell has been on leave to train for the Olympics but will begin working again in September at KTH Royal Institue of Technology, where she holds a PhD position in organic chemistry.
