Ikea plans to open budget hotels

The Financial Times reports that the Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is about to announce plans for a chain of budget hotels across Europe.

More than 100 hotels could be placed in markets such as Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. But, the FT says, the hotels would not use the Ikea name, and would be run for the Swedish company by an established hotel operator.
