8.1 percent of population looking for work

Unemployment rose in July

At the end of July, 378,000 people, or 8.1 percent of the labour force, were actively looking for work or participating in a back-to-work programme, according to the Swedish Employment Service's monthly figures.

This represents an increase of 13,000 people compared with the month of July last year.

In July almost 3,700 people were given their notice, a significant increase compared with July last year, when 2,900 were told they would lose their jobs.
