Swedish incomes on the rise – so is poverty

Incomes in Sweden rose above the average EU rate from 2005 to 2010, but a larger proportion of the population risk living in poverty, according to Statistics Sweden.

In 2005, households here had among the lowest disposable incomes in western and northern Europe, but Sweden rose to eighth place in the rankings by 2010. During the same period, a larger share of the total population risk living in poverty or social exclusion as defined by the EU.
