Guilty verdict on Swede murder in South Africa

In Capetown Monday, a judge found a South African man guilty of killing a Swedish newly-wed on her honeymoon two years ago.

Anni Dewani was killed in November 2010, in what prosecutors said was a faked hijacking. Her British husband is accused of orchestrating the hit, but has protested his innocence and is fighting extradition to South Africa.

Xolile Mngeni was convicted for firing the shot that killed Anni Dewani, as well as robbery, and illegal possession of a firearm.

The judge did not rule on the husband’s guilt or innocence.
