Kent Ekeroth quits as law and order spokesman

Sweden Democrat Kent Ekeroth is leaving his post as his party’s spokesperson on law and order issues as well as his seat in parliament’s Justice Committee. This follows the recent revelation of a video he took of a party colleague making racist and sexist slurs.

His colleague Erik Almqvist has resigned as the anti-immigrant party’s spokesperson on economic issues. At the end of the video the two and a third party member pick up metal pipes and behave in a threatening manner.

The police are investigating if any of the three are guilty of inciting racial hatred.

But neither Ekeroth nor Almqvist are resigning from parliament. They are serving their first terms and if they left now they would lose their parliamentary pensions.
