Police leak information to organized crime

Säpo, the intelligence unit of the Swedish Police, says members of the force have leaked information to organized crime. This, the agency says in a new report, has led to the disruption of several raids and other actions.

According to the report, there were 114 cases of suspected police corruption reported between August 2009 and October 2011. In 84 cases police employees leaked information to organized crime.

Most of the cases involve so-called friendship corruption, where social relationships rather than money is the motivating factor.
