Three Swedish children missing in Gaza

Three Swedish children are missing in Gaza, after being kidnapped by their father. Swedish authorities say they do not know whether the children are alive or dead.

The mother, Monica Granath, has not heard from the children for over two weeks, since the beginning of the Israeli military attacks on Gaza.

The children are aged 9, 10 and 13, and were taken on holiday to Egypt by their father in July, and have then been held by him in Gaza.

A senior civil servant at the Foreign Ministry, Ola Pihlblad, says to Radio Sweden that the government has no details on the children's situation.

Swedish authorities have a hard time finding kidnapped children in Palestinian territory, partly because Palestine is not signed the Haag Convention.

Currently the Foreign Ministry says that about 150 children have been snatched from Sweden, and they expect the number to rise, as global travel becomes easier.
