Serial killer Quick freed of two more murder convictions

The convicted serial killer Sture Bergwall, known as Thomas Quick, was freed on Friday of another two murders, news agency TT reports. Quick has now been freed of five of the eight murders he has been convicted of, and has asked for a retrial in the remaining three.

The two victims, Trine Jensen and Gry Storvik, are thought to have been murdered in 1981 and 1985 respectively.

The making and unmaking of a serial killer

In the past several years, Quick has had three murder verdicts overturned. Three of the cases are pending. These reversals were in part due to the tireless work of the journalist Hannes Råstam, who died in January from cancer. We speak to the editor of Råstam's book "The case of Thomas Quick – to create a serial killer", Mattias Göransson.
