Private school hazing trial ends

Five young men are accused of beating and humiliating a younger boy while they were all pupils at the elite Sigtuna private school.

The four 19 year olds and one 20 year old have had their final day in court. The prosecution says that they hit and kicked a younger pupil in the student housing, in September 2011 and March 2012.

But the defence says that the 17 year old target of the assault was well aware of what would happen, and that he gave his consent, as part of a hazing ritual for new pupils. And that only one part of the assault is illegal, and that it is impossible to say which of the five men were responsible.

The court's decision will come on the 22nd of February.
