Over 500 students suspended for cheating

News agency TT reports that 534 college and university students were suspended last year for cheating. That is a five percent drop from the year before.

Students have been caught hiding cheat sheets in the bathroom, reading notes on their phones, and stealing text from the internet and Wikipedia.

"Most of them make the mistake to take text from the web and copy and paste them," Lena Gerholm, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Stockholm University, tells Swedish Radio news.

Gerholm says if students are caught cheating they can get a warning, be suspended for up to six months, and even lose their student aid.

She adds that most of the students caught cheating once never do it again.
