Nyström wins girls' Vasa for sixth year

Sweden's Susanne Nyström is celebrating after her sixth victory in the 30km long "girls' Vasa" ski marathon.

She arrived at the finish after one hour and 25 minutes, six minutes longer than her own record, set in 2008.

Afterwards she said to Swedish Television that she was surprised to win this time, since she was not in form "but there is something about the girls' Vasa that gives you that extra spark." Her next target is the main Vasaloppet race, which stretches over 90km.

Around 10,000 took part in this year's marathon near the Dalarna town of Mora. The girls' Vasa celebrates its 25th anniversary today.
