Met office advises skiers to stay home in north

The Swedish Meteorological Institute has issued a new weather warning for all coastal areas and parts of the north including Darlarna, Gävleborg and Jämtland.

Skiers in north western areas are advised to stay away from the slopes today as winds reach up to 25 metres and an estimated 30 centimetres of snow is on the way.

Strong winds and heavy snowfall, which can cause structural damage, are forecasted for nothern mountainous areas from Saturday afternoon through to Sunday morning.

A storm warning is in operation from Jämtland county and south to Dalafjällen and people are urged to be cautious on the roads and keep track of weather updates.
