Swedish Armed Forces fully manned by 2023

When the Swedish parliament ended military service in 2010, the country’s new professional army was expected to be fully staffed four years later, reports newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

But the national defence force has long said that it was an over-ambitious target and that the new recruitment drive would take until 2019. However, recruitment has gone slower than expected and the Swedish Armed Forces has now informed the government that it will not reach full staff levels until 2023.
