Swedish food producer Dafgård says it has identified which of its suppliers sold it horse meat labelled as beef.

Dafgård is one of the leading frozen food manufacturers in Sweden, and also makes meatballs for IKEA. Traces of horse meat were found in its meatballs last week, causing them to be taken off the shelves all over Europe.

The company says it has passed evidence on to the authorities and contacted its lawyers.

Over 1000 DNA tests were carried out, and the Swedish supplier, which buys meat from two Polish slaughterhouses, was identified.

Dafgård are currently refusing to name the supplier, news agency TT reports.
