Swedish Church losing members
Over 54,000 Swedes left the Swedish Church in 2012 according to Swedish Radio News.
Membership in the Church has been falling on an annual basis. Almost as many people left in 2011.
The densely populated municipalities show the highest numbers of church leavers, while in smaller areas, for example in Bjurholm in northern Ångermanland, only one one person left the Swedish Church last year.
The Swedish Church is an Evangelical Lutheran christian faith, and until 2000 it was the established religion of the Swedish state.
