Union sues municipality for not reporting salaries

Swedish union Vision is suing the Halmstad municipality for failing to report on all employees’ salaries, reports Swedish Radio.

The union says that there has not been any recent updates on salaries and this goes against the Swedish Discrimination Act.

The union is asking for a fine of 500,000 kronor. Annika Strandhäll, president of Vision, believes that after years of attempts at dialogue, the union needed a more powerful weapon.

Wage surveys are used to detect and address unwarranted pay differentials between men and women. The Discrimination Act requires employers with more than 25 employees to identify these differences at least every three years.
