Fresh avalanche in Åre ski resort
A fresh avalanche was triggered in the Åre area of Jämtland on Saturday afternoon. The avalanche, the third in a week, was in Duved, four kilometres from the centre of Åre. On Friday, a 32-year-old man persished in a large avalanche in the popular ski resort.
"We have fourteen mountain rescuers in place, one police helicopter, and five dogs trained in avalanche rescue ," Patric Kristiansson, operations head at Jämtland police told news agency TT.
The alarm was raised at 3.41pm. According to newspaper reports, the avalanche was 50 metres wide and tumbled 100 metres down into a forest area.
