National team coach Erik Hamrén has included midfielder Erkan Zengin in his squad to face Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers on 22 March in a squad that also sees striker Alexander Gerndt back in national team action after being found guilty of domestic abuse in 2011.

"Alexander says he is moving on, and so are we," says Hamrén, who selected Gerndt for the first time since the striker's ban from national team football ended in April last year. "I fully respect that people may have opinions about this," he told Swedish Radio.

If selected to play, Zengin, who plays for Turkish side Eskisehirspor, will be making his national team debut against Ireland.

Sweden are second to Germany in Group C of the qualifiers, with seven points from three matches.
