Complaints against broadcasting fee go unheard

The Justice Ombudsman (JO) has received several complaints against expanded licence fee for Sweden's public service broadcasters, but newspaper Svenska Dagbladet reports the complaints will not be tried.

Since February, users of any device capable of streaming Swedish Television - be it computer, smart phone or tablet - have been charged the fee of roughly 2,000 SEK.

JO says the complaints will not be tried as they can be heard elsewhere. Radiotjänst, the authority that collects the fee, can try complaints itself. If they aren't heard there, an administrative court can try them.
