Calls for more consumer-friendly IT subscriptions

Broadband, TV and mobile phone operators in Sweden, should ease restrictions on the services they provide, according to a proposal from the minister on information technology issues, Anna-Karin Hatt.

Operators often require customers to give three months notice in order to cancel their subscriptions, but Hatt says one month, at most, should be sufficient.

Hatt also says operators should not have the right to “lock” smart phones.

"It shouldn’t be difficult or expensive for a consumer to change subscriptions,” Hatt tells Swedish Radio News
