Malmö team helps those fleeing a life of crime

Helping gangsters get out
(4:17 min)
Black Cobra is one of the criminal gangs active in Sweden

In early 2012 the southern city of Malmö was in the media as the scene of several shootings in broad daylight, linked to organised crime.

About a year ago Radio Sweden talked to someone in a new team set up to help people leave criminal gang. So we called up "Christina" (not her real name) to talk about her work.

She helps people who are under threat, usually criminals themselves, to set up a new secret life. Sometimes outside Sweden.

She says to Loukas Christodoulou that in the last year they have helped about 60 people
