Moving companies suspected of creating a cartel

The Swedish Competition Authority suspects several Swedish moving companies of creating a cartel, splitting up the country into regions, and controlling the market, reports newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The authority executed a pre-dawn raid on ten different companies in the Stockholm and Jönköping area in February. They confiscated computers and paperwork in the raids.

The companies are suspected of collusion in their bidding practices. The information comes from an insider tip the authority says is reliable.

Per Karlsson, chief lawyer at the Swedish Competition Authority, says the investigation will take at least a year.
