Generation change in Social Democrats

Swedish Radio News reports that there’s been a generation change in the leadership of the opposition Social Democrat Party. Half of the party leaders in Sweden’s twenty largest municipalities now are in their 40’s or younger.

Moreover, women lead or will soon lead the Social Democrats in Sweden’s seven largest cities.

But there is a lack of people with immigrant backgrounds among the top positions in what is Sweden’s largest political party.

Social Democrat party chair Carin Jämtin tells Swedish Radio News they have to work harder to broaden the party and increase diversity.
