"Older men should use women's bikes"

Experts are recommending that older men use women’s bicycles when cycling.

The advice from the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute comes because four out of ten injuries or deaths in accidents involving a single bicycle by itself are of people over the age of 65.

The institute says hip injuries are common and often occur at low speeds or when an older person gets on or off a bicycle.

The institute’s Anna Niska tells the TT news agency that the men involved have trouble getting across the bar in a men’s bike.
