Småland Airport closed after "bomb threat"

Police have closed Småland Airport in Växjö, after the airport received a threatening letter this morning, reports Swedish Radio Kronoberg. A search is now underway, since the police interpreted the letter to mean there may be a dangerous device on the premises.

According to the head of the airport the threat was directed against one employee who works at the airport.

The search will take some time, since the closest bomb squad is based in Malmö, reports news agency TT.

All flight departures and arrivals have been cancelled until at least noon. The closure of Småland Airport also means that two flights from Stockholm's Bromma Airport have also been cancelled, plus one from Stockholm's Arlanda.
