Åre hit with a new avalanche

An avalanche broke out on the Eastern Ravine at the Åre ski resort in the Swedish mountains on Friday. Emergency personnel, dogs, and rescue helicopters arrived on the scene, but no skiers were missing.

Helena Engelbrecht, at Skistar Åre, the company that runs the ski area, says so far they have no information on how big the avalanche was.

The avalanche occurred in an off-piste section on the mountain.

A man in his 30's died in Åre back in March after getting swept up in a big avalanche. He was found dead under the snow three hours after the avalanche.
