Suspended for "refusing" to wed same-sex couples

A presiding official at marriages in southern Sweden has lost his license to wed after saying he would refuse to marry same-sex couples in an interview with newspaper Skånska Dagbladet.

A person who had read the article, published several years ago, made a complaint to the Skåne county board, which asked the man whether he was in fact refusing to wed same-sex couples.

No response has come, news agency TT reports, so the man has now had his license withdrawn.
