Feminist Initiative hopes for seat in EU Parliament

The Feminist Initiative will run for both EU parliament in June, and for Swedish parliament next September, according to Swedish Radio News. The party is holding its congress in Gothenburg this weekend.

The party congress will also elect a new spokesperson this weekend. One suggestion is that Gudrun Schyman, who founded the party but stepped down as spokesperson in 2011, takes the helm again but shares it with the current spokespeople, Sissela Nordling Blanco and Stina Svensson.

During the last Swedish parliamentary elections in 2010, the Feminist Initiative won 0.4 percent of the vote, well under the 4 percent needed to get a seat in Parliament.
