Feminist Initiative elects Schyman

Gudrun Schyman, the founder and former spokesperson of the Feminist Initiative party in Sweden, was elected back to her old position at the party's congress in Gothenburg, this weekend.

Schyman tells news agency TT that she cannot bear the way society is developing: "more injustice, segregation, more racism, hatred for women that's bubbling up, anti-feminist movements. An awful lot is disintigrating."

She sees these worries as her chief motivation for trying to change things.

Schyman will share the job of representing the party along with co-spokespersons, Stina Svensson and Sissela Nordling Blanco.

Schyman founded the party in 2005, stepped down as its spokesperson in 2011, and served as a local politician in Simrishamn, during the interim.
