Documentary subject's medical journals accessed

Swedish Radio News reports that after a recent documentary series about a troubled teen abused within the psychiatric system, her medical journal has been repeatedly accessed by unauthorized personnel.

The series about a 17 year old called “Nora” was broadcast in January, and revealed a string of abuses, including being forced to live at a care home where a man who was pimping her was also resident, and a denial of her repeated requests to see a woman psychologist.

Despite alerting the police to the identity of several sex offenders, including a former police chief, “Nora” was given no protection by the authorities.

Now police have begun an investigation into what Swedish Radio News says was 49 apparently improper viewings of her medical journal.

Among those who reportedly accessed her medical files were at least 27 staff with no connection to her case, within gynecology, eye disease, a women’s clinic and administrative personnel who arrange hospital travel.
