An Allsvenskan football match between Mjällby and Djurgården has been suspended, after a Mjällby player was hit by a pear thrown by a supporter, reports news agency TT.

After a meeting with the police, the referees and the clubs, the match has been called off and will be finished off later, at a date to be announced.

Mjällby, from the south coast, had taken the lead 0-1 after 37 minutes, playing against Stockholm's Djurgården at Stockholm's Stadion arena. While the players were celebrating several objects were throw onto the pitch, one hit Gbenga Arokoyo.

When the player was hit the referee decided to stop the game and clear the players from the pitch.
