The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, or SIPRI, is a publicly funded think tank investigating the global armaments and the arms trade. It’s best known for its annual report.
At the beginning of the year German professor of economic development Tilman Brück took over as the agency’s director. Trained at the universities in Glasgow and Oxford, his research has included the relationship between peace, security and development, the problems of post-war reconstruction, and the economics of terrorism.
Radio Sweden’s Hansjörg Kissel met recently with the new director and asked about his plans for the future of SIPRI, what its work will focus on in the future, and proposals to limit the arms trade.
